- Volcanoes National Park
Located in the northwestern part of Rwanda, Volcanoes is one of the only four destinations in the world that protect the endangered mountain gorillas. These apes are seen during a gorilla trekking experience where trekkers hike through bamboo forests and misty slopes to encounter gorilla families up close. Apart from gorillas, the park also features other attractions like golden monkeys, cultural tours, and five of the eight volcanoes in the Virunga region.

Stretching over a total surface area of about 1,122 square kilometers, Akagera is a savannah park on the eastern border that offers classic safari experiences with elephants, lions, giraffes, leopards, and hippos. Activities at the park include game drives and incredible boat safaris on Lake Ihema.
- Lake Kivu
