Rubavu District (WP)
Rubavu district is one of the Western Province’s seven districts with its town Rubavu contiguous with Goma, the city across the border in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Rubavu features a resort on the shores of Lake Kivu, with several hotels and three sandy beaches. The area is also known for water sports. The northern shore of the Lake on which Goma and Rubavu lie on a flat plain, featuring lava formations from the eruptions of nearby Nyiragongo Volcano.
The centre of Rubavu lies at the foot hills in the north-east corner of the Lake Kivu. Rubavu is also home to Bralirwa, the only brewery in Rwanda, which manufactures various local beers like Primus and Mutzig, as well as Amstel, Guinness and a range of Coca Cola brand soft drinks.
Rubavu district is one of best tourism destinations in Rwanda as it has the most attractive natural and cultural sites in the sectors of Rubavu, Nyamyumba, Busasamana, Kanzenze and Nyakiriba.
While in Rubavu district you will enjoy its diversity of unique attractions like Nyamyumba hotspring, caves, tea plantation, methane Gas , Gishwati natural forest and historical sites and this is facilitated due to its good infrastructure like roads, Rubavu airport and has many and good hotels in the country next to Kigali city.
